loggia |
Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Wikipedia | 0.02 sec. |
loggiaHall, gallery, or porch open to the air on one or more sides. It evolved in the Mediterranean region as an open sitting room with protection from the sun. It is often a roofed, arcaded open gallery on an upper story overlooking a court, though it can also be a separate arcaded or colonnaded structure. In medieval and Renaissance Italy, it was often used in conjunction with a public square, as in Florence's Loggia dei Lanzi (begun 1376). |

| To maximise the volume of the flats, vertical circulation is separated off into two smaller, tapering volumes that connect with the residential parts by a series of open loggias and walkways. The stunning residential structure offers a portfolio of five different designs for unparalleled urban living: expansive townhouses, all featuring either loggias or terraces, elegant duplex rooftop homes that enjoy spectacular terrace views, and gracious, light-filled, open-plan tower lofts. These loggias are separate from, but visually related to, the shared spaces. |
