The extremely flexible local memory architecture enables the tightly coupled memory (TCM) to be unified into a single logical address space while providing the same performance as cache memory.
The IBM PC had 1 megabyte of logical address space.
It also allows a user to classify and correlate defects, analyze redundancy utilization and to precisely localize physical failures by zooming into the physical structure and locations of memory instances based on retrieved memory failures, as opposed to simply reporting the logical address of failed cells.
