Malope
a genus of annual herbaceous plants of the family Malvaceae. The stems are straight, and the leaves are alternate, entire or slightly lobed, and glossy. The flowers are solitary, axillary, and on long peduncles. The epicalyx is large and three-parted, and there are numerous little fruits. The genus has three or four species, found in the Mediterranean region. Malope trifida is widely used as an ornamental. Its large-flowered form, measuring up to 1 m tall, is particularly popular; it has large purple-red, pink, or white flowers (more than 6 cm across). Want to thank TFD for its existence?
