Marquisette

Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus 0.01 sec.
Marquisette

a light, thin, sheer cotton or silk fabric of leno weave made with a very thin twisted yarn. It is usually printed (with a design); less often it is white or of a solid color. Cotton marquisette is mercerized, which gives it a silkiness and luster. Summer dresses, blouses, and women’s underwear are among the items made from marquisette.
