The treatment of matrices whose entries are functions as functions in their own right with a corresponding theory of differentiation; this has application to the study of multidimensional derivatives of functions of several variables.

To facilitate the verification of this assumption, we resort to matrix calculus, so that both the conversion of Von Neumann's original model into matrix terms, as well as the construction of the output matrix that guarantees growth in equilibrium in all periods, would be the fundamental instruments that afford a clear insight into the true meaning of balanced growth and its implications.
