medial lemniscus [′mē·dē·əl lem′nis·kəs] (anatomy) A lemniscus arising in the nucleus gracilis and nucleus cuneatus of the brain, crossing immediately as internal arcuate fibers, and terminating in the posterolateral ventral nucleus of the thalamus.
