Medieval Art

in art history, a term usually used to define the early and mature stages of art in the age of feudalism, which lasted from the fifth century to the Renaissance in Western Europe and from the tenth through the 17th century in Russia. Medieval art was closely tied to a religious world view and had conventional images. When applied to Oriental art, the term “medieval art” embraces the art of the entire age of feudalism.
