memorial park A cemetery, usually having grave markers flush with the ground in large open meadows bordered by groves of trees. Facilities: Picnic areas, trails, athletic fields. Activities: Hiking, bicycling, jogging, golf, tennis, softball. Special Features: Houses the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center (713-681-8433), a 155-acre preserve with more than five miles of self-guided trails that introduce visitors to a pine and mixed hardwood forest, a re-created Gulf Coast prairie, ponds, and a native wildflower garden. Also home to the George and Barbara Bush Presidential Grove, a tranquil area comprising more than 54 native Texas trees of seven different species. See other parks in Texas.
