memory storage
Refers to flash memory such as in a digital camera's memory card or built into an MP3 player. The term "memory" plays a dual role in the computer industry because the memory composed of RAM chips is the computer's workspace; however, in portable devices such as iPods and digital cameras, it is also the storage space for programs and data and works like a hard disk. Laptops also come with flash memory storage (see solid state drive). See storage and memory.
memory storage [′mem·rē ‚stȯr·ij]
