Due to the lack of explanation for the reinterpretation of the Meridian section the fact that the historic interpretation of several previous investigators support a Meridian Sand overstep, and the traditional interpretation for a Meridian Sand overstep appears to be a valid lithostratigraphic interpretation based on the stratigraphic code, the interpretation of Thompson (2000a, b) cannot be supported.
