MetaDirectory

(1) A data warehousing tool from Information Builders that captures and associates meta-data from the company's different applications. Formerly SmartBase, it was renamed MetaDirectory in 1998. See SmartMart and Information Builders.

(2) (metadirectory) A directory that contains information about other directories. It functions as a master directory gleaning information from all the other directories. See DirXML.
