mezzanine cardA printed circuit board that plugs directly into another plug-in card. For example, a mezzanine card, also known as a "daughterboard," might plug into a VMEbus card, CompactPCI card or PCI card in order to extend its functionality. The companies have entered into an OEM agreement to deliver an Emulex-based Fibre Channel Mezzanine card for HP BladeSystem server technology, and will continue collaborating via the HP BladeSystem Solution Builder program. A vendor producing small "blade" servers can put the FC components on a mezzanine card attached to the blade server. An Advanced Mezzanine Card (AdvancedMC*) is used for echo cancellation and transcoding offload, which significantly enhances media processing performance, especially when low-bit-rate audio coders are required at high-density levels. |
