Here, multilocus fragment analysis of 3 microsatellite loci (ML1, ML2, and gp60) was used to subtype strains from sporadic cases of cryptosporidiosis in Wales and northwest England. The new method, which amplifies five microsatellite markers of the chicken DNA with PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and examines their lengths, can differentiate Nagoya Cochin, a well-received breed of chicken, from other chicken breeds such as broilers. A total of 200 individuals were identified by chemically tagging DNA segments known as microsatellites. |
