Adaptive Servo Ventilation Adaptive Servo Ventilation (ASV) provides ventilatory support to rapidly treat all forms of central sleep apnea (CSA), mixed apnea and periodic breathing, commonly known as Cheyne-Stokes respiration (CSR).
Results of an overnight polysomnogram in January 1999 showed 78 episodes of obstructive and mixed apnea, 11 episodes of central apnea, and 74 episodes of hypopnea, yielding a respiratory disturbance index (RDI) of 116.
Mixed Apnea -- Any combination of the above events in the same child.
