A wireless network adapter for a laptop, PDA or cellphone that provides cellular data transmission. Also called a "broadband adapter" and "air card." For example, an EV-DO card is a broadband card for CDMA networks such as Verizon Wireless and Sprint. See wireless adapter, mobile broadband router and cellular generations.
