Modillion

modillion
A horizontal bracket or console, usually in the form of a scroll with acanthus, supporting the corona under a cornice. If in the form of a plain block, it is a block modillion or uncut modillion. Found in Corinthian, Composite, and, less frequently, Roman Ionic orders.

Modillion 

an architectural member, or bracket, which supports the corona of the cornice. It is used primarily in architecture employing the classical orders. Sometimes the modillion is purely decorative.

Ornamentation includes acanthus leaf, egg and dart, modillions, or dentil among many others.
My confidence was so shaken that I finally begin looking up words I thought I knew, such as the humble cornice, only to find "the uppermost member of a classical entablature, consisting of a bed molding, a corona, and a cymatium, with rows of dentils, modillions, etc.
If you stay in Marfa long enough, everything starts to look Judd-like: the identical barracks buildings at Fort Russell; the white, symmetrical facade of the Bank Building in the centre of Marfa; the modular division of windows on the Architecture Office; the regularly spaced modillions supporting the cornice on the Print Building; even the regular divisions on ordinary paneled doors.
