(electronics)
A multivibrator with one stable state and one unstable state; a trigger signal is required to drive the unit into the unstable state, where it remains for a predetermined time before returning to the stable state. Also known as one-shot multivibrator; single-shot multivibrator; start-stop multivibrator; univibrator.

Composed of two symmetrically thresholded hysteresis comparators whose outputs are combined by an OR gate, the dual comparator drives a conventional monostable multivibrator which produces a 1 ms pulse when incipient latch-up occurs.
