Symmetric facilitation between motor cortices during contraction of ipsilateral hand muscles.
Under normal conditions, the frontal, temporal, and motor cortices of the brain send carefully modulated signals to the brainstem and cerebellum to coordinate appropriate, voluntary displays of emotion.
In one study, (40) when SES was delivered to the hand of subjects without neurological impairments, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) showed increased blood flow in the areas of the primary and secondary motor cortices as well as the primary sensory cortex.
