native resolution

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.03 sec.

The maximum resolution of a monitor or printer. In a flat panel display, the native resolution is very significant because, unlike a CRT, in which all resolutions are generally similar in quality, the highest resolution of a flat panel provides the best quality. At lower resolutions, flat panel display quality varies considerably among different brands. See flat panel display.
