A measurement of luminance. One nit is equal to one candela per square meter (1cd/m2). Ten thousand nits are equal to one stilb. See candela.

1. the egg of a louse, usually adhering to human hair
2. the larva of a louse or similar insect

nit2
a unit of luminance equal to 1 candela per square metre

nit3 a unit of information equal to 1.44 bits
