transillumination [‚tranz·ə‚lü·mə′nā·shən]
(engineering) Indirect lighting on a console panel that uses edge and backlighting techniques on clear, fluorescent, or layered plastic materials. Transmission of light through sections of material in order to enhance inspection for deviations in quality. (optics) Illumination of translucent material by light being transmitted through the material from the rear. transillumination The illumination of a material from the rear by light which is transmitted through the material.
