Off-gas

The release of vapors (volatile organic compounds [VOCs] or other chemicals) from a material through evaporation or chemical decomposition. Many building materials and furnishings off-gas, such as some structural panels, paints, cabinetry, veneers, carpets, upholstery, and wall coverings. Controlling indoor moisture, and specifying prefinished materials, can reduce off-gas potential.

3], reducing moisture in the cleaned process gas by reducing or eliminating the use of water, eliminating condensation of tars on colder surfaces for certain process off-gases by operating above the tar dew point of the process gas, and eliminating the wet scrubber liquor water treatment system, which can be problematic when a process off-gas with tars present is to be treated.
Increasing fuel prices, pressure to reduce greenhouse emissions and a need to exhibit Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are driving more and more endusers to invest in technologies that use waste products to generate bio and off-gases.
