olecranon [ō′lek·rə‚nän]
(anatomy)
The large process at the distal end of the ulna that forms the bony prominence of the elbow and receives the insertion of the triceps muscle.

For this study, the elbow was placed in 90 degrees of flexion, and resistance was applied to the ulna at the olecranon process along the long axis of the humerus.
The shoulder width (biacromial breadth) and forearm-hand length (tip of the olecranon process to tip of third digit) were measured using a standard rigid anthropometer.
The EMG electrodes were also placed on the posterior surface of both arms, at a distance halfway between the acromion and the olecranon process.
