ustus includes onychomycosis, otitis media, primary cutaneous infection, endocarditis, pneumonia, and disseminated infection, the latter cases occurring largely among immunocompromised hosts such as HSCT recipients. The four most advanced product candidates include one for the treatment of diaper dermatitis complicated by candidiasis, which is in registration, and three products, which are in or entering Phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis, fungal infections, including vaginal candidiasis and onychomycosis, and congenital ichthyosis. Recently, reports have surfaced that saprobic fungi, as well as fungi pathogenic for plants, have evolved as human pathogens; reported cases have involved skin infections, endocarditis, brain abscess, onychomycosis, keratitis, mycetoma, bronchopulmonary disease, and rhinosinusitis. |
