(meteorology)
Cloud seeding in which an excess of nucleating material is released; as the term is normally used, the excess is relative to that amount of nucleating material which would, theoretically, maximize the precipitation received at the ground.

If you are doing a light fall overseeding on a fescue lawn, the holes left by the aerator make a perfect place for the seeds to fall into and germinate.
We won't add too many horses until we're sure what we're doing - we will be overseeding pastures to develop as much hay as we can on our own property - and we'll keep moving the horses from pasture to pasture so we don't overgraze or reduce them to mud.
Why is it that, when I carefully cultivate turnips in my garden, they are destroyed, yet when I simply scattered turnip seed as part of an overseeding mix in the forest garden this spring and walked away--the turnips thrived, yielding fat juicy roots, the only turnips I've eaten from my own dirt for three years?
