(computer science) The process of moving entire pages of information between main memory and auxiliary storage, usually to allow several concurrently executing programs to share a main memory of inadequate capacity. In conversational time-sharing systems, the moving of programs in and out of memory on a round-robin, cyclic schedule so that each program may use its allotted share of computer time.
