Parastichy
an oblique, spiral row of crowded leaves, scales, or flowers. Parastichy is observed in plants with short stems marked by whorled phyllotaxy: the cones of conifers and various inflorescences (for example, heads of Compositae) often have a series of crisscross parastichies curving in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
