Scientists at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) have established circulating particle beams in both directions in the underground Large Hadron Collider.
According to a report by BBC News, an LHC spokesperson said this was the first time particle beams had been inside the LHC since it was shut down late in September 2008.
The aim of these simulations is to investigate the charge particle beam quality, which makes optimisation for a specific application possible.
