It should be noted that the motivation of this modeling was not to provide quantitative results matching observed permeability numbers, but rather to explain the general trend seen with these materials.
Procedure - The permeability number, which has no units, is determined by the rate of flow of air, under standard pressure, through a 2 x 2-in.
In an equation form, it is: (Volume of Air)*(Height of Specimen)/(Area)*(Time)*(Pressure) Permeability can be measured with commercially available equipment and is usually specified as a permeability number.
