A neutral vector meson resonance, having a mass of about 1019.4 MeV, a width of about 4.6 MeV, and negative charge parity and G parity.

But the new research, performed by Hideto En'yo and his colleagues at the KEK accelerator in Tsukuba, Japan, detected the mass lost within a nucleus by the phi meson, which consists of two tightly bound quarks.
A Monte Carlo simulation was produced to better understand CLAS's backward angle detection of K mesons produced from the phi meson photoproduction process.
