(medicine)
An acute viral infection, transmitted by the flyPhlebotomus papatosiiand characterized by fever, pains in the head and eyes, inflammation of the conjunctiva, leukopenia, and general malaise. Also known as Chitral fever; pappataci fever; sandfly fever; three-day fever.
