plasmacyte [′plazĀ·mə‚sīt] (histology) A fairly large, generally ovoid cell with a small, eccentrically placed nucleus; the chromatin material is adherent to the nuclear membrane and the cytoplasm is agranular and deeply basophilic everywhere except for a clear area adjacent to the nucleus in the area of the cytocentrum.
