plasmacyte [′plazĀ·mə‚sīt]
(histology)
A fairly large, generally ovoid cell with a small, eccentrically placed nucleus; the chromatin material is adherent to the nuclear membrane and the cytoplasm is agranular and deeply basophilic everywhere except for a clear area adjacent to the nucleus in the area of the cytocentrum. Also known as plasma cell.

The cellular phenotype in the small intestine consisted primarily of lymphocytes and plasmacytes.
Biopsies of the pharynx, performed after radiotherapy, showed infiltration of small lymphocytes, plasmacytes, and neutrophils in the submucosal area.
[1] For the plasmacytic cell series they recommended the terms "plasmablast," "proplasmacyte" and "plasmacyte" identify these cells, and they proposed that the term "plasma cell" be avoided; however, both terms, plasmacyte and plasma cell, are still used interchangeably.
