Similar to other milkweeds, pleurisy root produces pods that reveal rows of silky reeds that drift in the wind in autumn.
Administration with other cardiac glycoside containing herbs such as black hellebore, digitalis leaf, lily-of-the-valley, motherwort, oleander leaf, pheasant''s eye, pleurisy root, or uzara could lead to increased cardiac effects.
Herbs used in enemas have included Blessed Thistle, Plantain, Pleurisy Root, Thyme, Hyssop, Mint, Elder Flower, White Oak Bark, Yellow Dock, Mullein, Echinacea, Dandelion, Parsley, and Marshmallow Root.
