Tina grows vegetables out back of her trailer and, when the electricity is cut off because the bills haven't been paid, she cooks for her family atop an old iron potbelly stove in the cluttered living room. The reality was the potbelly stove in a tar shack or one-room schoolhouse with no heat, no books, nothing. Antiques incorporated into the design include a 12-foot piece of rail from the Dublin to Waterford line, now used as the bar's footrest; spring-loaded buffers used to maintain separation between cars, circa 1890; Engineer seats from old engines; miniature cranes; signals; and cast-iron potbelly stoves circa 1880. |
