In the past five years the emergence of multi-tiered storage has gained great acceptance, as an organization's ability to generate data has outstripped the ability to scale primary storage systems, either physically or economically. When performing synchronous replication, every write to primary storage is also captured in the secondary (replicated) storage. This kind of growth is one of many indicators that SATA storage is now generally accepted as mainstream, both for nearline and, increasingly, for some primary storage applications," said Tom Curlin, Managing Director, RBC Capital Markets. |
