To read a document for proper grammar or view an image for validity. Proofreading is the stage between writing and publishing. Years ago, proofreaders were people who were expert in spelling; however, most documents are spell checked in the computer nowadays. See prepress proof.

If we know that certain students with certain disabilities need certain accommodations, and sometimes those accommodations consist of editing and proofreading help, it is clearly exclusionary to have a sign such as "We Don't Proofread.
When you proofread be sure to check the spelling and the grammar especially with the help of your computer.
The author herself has proofread more than 1,200 books for over 20 prominent publishers.
