Articular or joint proprioceptors respond to mechanical deformation of the joint capsule and ligaments: Joint receptors include the rapidly adapting pacinian corpuscles (PCs), slower-adapting Ruffini's endings, ligament receptors, and free nerve endings. In other words, very few corrections from the muscle's proprioceptors are required as a result of the information this feedback provides once the skill is set into motion.
