prostate specific antigen [¦prä‚stāt spə‚sif·ik ′ant·i·jən]
(immunology)
A glycoprotein with 240 amino acids that is expressed exclusively by human prostate epithelial cells and that exhibits protease activity; elevated levels in the blood are detected in individuals with prostate cancer. Abbreviated PSA.
