S/MIME - S/MIME is an acronym that stands for Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions, and this is a standard that is used for signing email and public key encryption of email that is encapsulated in MIME.
Users must use proper passwords and identification to access the database, and transactions between browser and Web server are encrypted via SSL and HTTPS; public key encryption is used between the central server and the remote servers.
Public key encryption is used to exchange the symmetric keys when a secure communication link is established.
