pycnidium [pik′nid·ē·əm]
(mycology)
A cavity that bears pycnidiospores in certain fungi.

Pycnidium 

the fruiting body of certain imperfect fungi; the organ for asexual sporogenesis of the mycobiontic fungi of lichens. Pycnidia are usually rounded receptacles with an apical pore for the emergence of pycnidiospores. The covering consists of tightly meshed hyphae; its thickness depends on the nature of the substrate which the fungus develops.
