I always start any discussion on education by asking if the person I am talking with knows the quadratic formula. Students measured the marble, how fast it traveled through a laser, calculated angle and height and velocity using trigonometry and quadratic formulas -- recalled with a ditty to the tune of ``Pop Goes the Weasel'' -- to predict the marble's travel across the classroom. For n = 2, the computation does not present any difficulty as one can use the quadratic formula. |
