| Once the ladle is full, the flux must be stirred and rabbled to activate before the degassing occurs. For this reason, cover fluxes should never be rabbled. For best results the flux should be rabbled (stirred) into the melt, which brings the flux into contact with oxides that build up near the melt surface. |
