In 1979, AAMI Working Group TC 198--charged with developing guidelines for the radiation sterilization of single-use medical devices--urged the FDA to sanction the use of an SAL of [10.
The group has been perform ing a survey regarding SAL requirements for radiation sterilization and, as of press time, was planning to present the results to the AAMI Sterilization Standards Committee and Affiliated Working Groups at a meeting to be held June 23-25.
The company could not present any procedures for monitoring and control of process parameters of radiation sterilization validation and packaging of the device.
