In related news, Electronics Recyclers has also announced that it will be managing and recycling electronic scrap materials generated at Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a proposed "Guidance for the Sampling and Analysis of Concrete Designated for Recycling" that some recyclers fear could increase the cost of concrete recycling in the state to the point where it could severely curtail or even kill of the industry. The money, called an Electronic Waste Recycling Fee, is supposed to be passed on to recyclers to help subsidize the collection and proper handling of e-waste, which contain toxic metals and other substances unsafe for landfills. |
