This article briefly describes the development the LDRN, and then describes the content of a joint workshop that was organized to exchange knowledge about distress relief models and practices that can promote recovery in both local and transnational contexts.
The best disaster relief models offered by churches or faith-based organizations are those that efficiently meet the needs of victims with both material and spiritual aid, work alongside government in effective partnership, provide services that are inappropriate for government to offer, such as spiritual nurture--but also advocate for justice in political structures to protect the most vulnerable.
For example, low-resolution artwork from the Internet can be imported and then the resolution increased to dramatically improve the quality of the relief model.
