(organic chemistry)
C6H4(OH)2Sweet-tasting, white, toxic crystals; soluble in water, alcohol, ether, benzene, and glycerol; melts at 111°C; used for resins, dyes, pharmaceuticals, and adhesives, and as a chemical intermediate. Also known as resorcin.
