The snake most associated with unprovoked human fatalities in the wild is the reticulated python.
Included are reticulated and Burmese pythons, which pose enormous threats to native species when their owners/breeders almost invariably grow tired or scared of them and release them.
Scientists have recovered fossils from a 60,000,000-year-old South American snake whose length and weight might make today's anacondas and reticulated pythons seem a bit cuter and more cuddly.
