rhabdovirus

Any of a group of viruses responsible for rabies and vesicular stomatitis (an acute disease of cattle and horses, characterized by blisters in and about the mouth, that resembles foot-and-mouth disease). The bullet-shaped virus particle is encased in a fatty membrane and contains RNA.

A group of ribonucleic acid-containing animal viruses, including rabies virus and certain infective agents of fish and insects.

Rabies It is a zoonotic disease caused by a rhabdovirus of the genus Lyssavirus, affecting a wide range of domestic and wild animals, including bats.
It is caused by an aquatic rhabdovirus, of which four strains have been identified.
