Rhatany 

the name of several plant species of the genus Krameria of the family Krameriaceae (once included in the family Leguminosae). The plants include shrubs and perennial herbs with alternate entire or trifoliate leaves. The flowers, which are solitary or in racemes, are red or purple. There are approximately 25 species, distributed in subtropical North America and in South America as far south as Argentina and Chile.
