a test to ensure that a vehicle is roadworthy, esp after repair or servicing, by driving it on roads

road test [′rōd ‚test]
(engineering)
A motor-vehicle test conducted on the highway or on a chassis dynamometer to determine the performance of fuels or lubricants or the performance of the vehicle.
